2020 Civic Education Year

Beginning of the new decade of European Citizenship Education in Europe and beyond as initiative developed by National Youth Council of Serbia and its partner organisations is preparing project proposal within KA2 or Erasmus+ programme of European Commission.
Project aims to develop formal and non-formal citizenship education in Europe and South America with objectives to:
- Exchange good practices in civic education in different countries and building capacities of National Youth Councils and other stakeholders relevant for implementation and policy improvement regarding civic education;
- Promote European Citizenship education and European values such as tolerance, democracy, active participation, non-discrimination, inclusion in different communities;
- Develop, adapt and create tools and methods and test them in different backgrounds in order to use and share them in future;
- Enhance partnership and develop initiative for civic education across Europe and South America, as well as in other region.
Project will include capacity building activities and mobility activities among which are:
1. Kick off meeting on which partners will get to know each other and launch project
2. Seminar on civic education on which partners will exchange realities in their countries and share examples of good practices
3. Research which will collect data regarding needs of young people in different communities
4. Policy development training on which relevant youth policy stakeholders will learn how to develop policies regarding civic education
5. Local meetings on which initiatives for civic education introduction or reforms will be established
6. Advocacy training for representatives of partner organisations that will be in charge of lobbing and advocacy for civic education in their countries
7. Campaign that will be run on European levels with aim to rise awareness on importance on high quality civic education
8. Final conference with relevant decision makers on which results of the project will be presented along with policy recommendations. Conference will include evaluation meeting.
